Inaugural training programme for farmers held under APART

The inaugural training programme for 10 clusters of 5,000 farmers was conducted at no. 2 Chitalmari, Borsola in the Sonitpur district under the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART).

TEZPUR: The inaugural training programme for 10 clusters of 5,000 farmers was conducted at no. 2 Chitalmari, Borsola in the Sonitpur district under the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART).

The programme was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Sonitpur. The objective of the training programme was to provide awareness to farmers regarding all relevant agriculture schemes such as PM-Kisan, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), paddy procurement, etc.

Dr Khanindra Barman, District Nodal Officer, welcomed all the participants and briefed about the programme. Naveen Sagar, Agriculture Marketing Specialist, Arias Society discussed the objective of the training. Padma Nath Doley, BTM, Bihaguri discussed in detail the PM Kisan Scheme like eligibility criteria, claim procedure etc. for getting this scheme benefit.

An SBI official discussed the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and he said that this was one of the important schemes to get financial support at a lower interest rate of 7 % as compared to other financial products. Officials from Agriculture Insurance Company discussed the importance of (PMFBY) Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and its benefits. Namita Dutta, SMS, Soil Science, KVK discussed the Soil Health Card and scientific cultivation practices of mustard. The programme was also attended by farmers from no. 2 Chitalmari village and Board of Directors from Kheuj Nayan FPC, Borsola in the Sonitpur district.
