Independence Day preparations underway amidst COVID-19 pandemic

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Amidst the aggression of COVID-19 pandemic, preparations are underway to celebrate the 74th Independence Day in Biswanath district. A meeting was held in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath on Friday to celebrate the Independence Day in the district on the basis of the guidelines recently issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Assam. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dhruvajyoti Das. In order to maintain social distancing and to carry out the rules and regulations of the COVID-19, it was decided to hold various online competitions among the students in Biswanath district on the occasion. The security arrangements and sanitization at Kachari Maidan area were discussed in the meeting. The district administration also decided to extend door-to-door greetings to the persons who have excelled in various fields. In line with this central event to be held at Kachari Maidan in front of the District Deputy Commissioner's Office, tree plantation programmes will be carried out in all government offices on August 13. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Chandana Mahanta, Manoranjan Payeng, and Kuldeep Hazarika among others.
