Kokrajhar: Based on specific intelligence input about the movement KLO cadres in the Basugaon area near National Highway, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Chirang police on Sunday and a Bangladesh trained KLO cadre was apprehended.

Sources from the army said the apprehended cadre was identified as Chitra Barman, a KLO militant who was trained at the KLO training camp in Bangladesh. Sources said sophisticated weapons, including a USA-made pistol and ammunition, were recovered from his possession.

This is a major setback to the militant group and has dealt a severe blow to its activities like extortion and weapon dealing in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts, said army sources.
