Indian Army organized Bodo Indigenous Games at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur

Dhekiajuli: In order to promote and preserve cultural heritage and present them with an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent and skills in the game, the unit of the Indian Army is organizing a Bodo Indigenous Games at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur District, which commenced on 10 Jan 2020.

The event is spanned over four days in which 362 enthusiastic youths from seven districts of Assam will be participating. The tournament was inaugurated by Biswajit Daimary, member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Ashok Singhal, MLA Dhekiajuli, Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta, SP, Sonitpur, Amrit Machi Daimari, President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Sonitpur and Mintu Hemram, President All Assam Student’s Union.

The opening match of Khomlanai (Bodo Wrestling) was played between Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in which Kokrajhar won by five points. This exciting match was witnessed by a massive crowd of around 1000 people.

The local population appreciated this initiative of the Indian Army for Organizing this sporting event which provided the youth a platform to showcase their talent.
