MANGALDAI: The troops of the Indian Army, while assisting the civil administration in containing the insurgency in the State, have always been extending all possible help and cooperation in the form of medical and health camp in rural areas, inputs to the differently-abled section, providing drinking water facility, construction of additional classrooms, toilet block, and arranging National Integration Tours for underprivileged rural students.

Reiterating their commitment towards their own countrymen, particularly towards the rural women living in the remote and rural far-flung areas, and to spread the women empowerment movement in these areas, a unit of Red Horns Division of Indian Army distributed sophisticated modern sewing machines to 30 selected under privileged women of three villages along the Indo-Bhutan border on the Himalayan foothills, namely Ghagra, Amlaiguri and Hattigor villages of Udalguri district under 'Operation Sadbhavana'.

The troops of Red Horns division organized the function at Hattigor Military station on Wednesday in presence of senior Army officials and officials of Army Wives' Welfare Association (AWWA). The aim of the event was to empower local women who are deprived of employment opportunities in the backward region.
