BONGAIGAON: "The attacks on doctors and health workers have increased rampantly in the last few days. For which, all health workers and doctors are in fear at present," said Dr S K Das, president of Indian Medical Association of Bongaigaon, on Friday during a protest staged in Bongaigaon against harassment of health workers.

Several noted persons, including Ashish Biswas, general secretary of N F Railway Mazdoor Union, Premnath Harlalka , eminent industrialist of Bongaigaon, Baroda Kalita, social worker, Prabin Baishya, entrepreneur and environmentalist, were present during the protest along with doctors of Bongaigaon area.

Dr Samik Dev, secretary of IMA, Bongaigaon, said that people should respond to such cases. "It is completely inhuman that doctors and health workers, who are sacrificing their lives for the service of people, are brutally attacked. A nationwide protest was staged today and we, as part of IMA, are staging this protest in Bongaigaon. The government should take responsibility for this and take measures to prevent such incidents in future," he said.

DHUBRI: In response to a call given by lndian Medical Association (National Chapter), IMA Dhubri branch and AMSA Dhubri unit jointly staged protest across Dhubri district on Friday against the physical atrocities committed on doctors and other health staff. In Dhubri, protest was staged at Dhubri Civil Hospital and other health institutions in the district, an IMA member said.
