Indian Railways commissions Dudhanoi-Mendipathar and Abhayapuri-Panacharatna section

 GOALPARA: In continuation with the 100% electrification mission of Indian Railways, New Jalpaiguri Project Unit under Central Railway Electrification Organization has achieved another milestone by commissioning Dudhanoi-Mendipathar and Abhayapuri-Panacharatna section (RKM: 19.584 & TKM: 57.42) on Rangiya Division.

Under the leadership and guidance of Mrityunjay Mishra, Chief Project Director, New Jalpaiguri, excellent work has been done for commissioning of goods and passenger trains before mandatory PCEE inspection.

Light engine trials have been successfully carried out with maximum sectional speed on Abhayapuri-Panacharatna on October 22, 2022 and Dudhanoi-Mendipathar on March 6, 2023 before offering the section to PCEE.

On Wednesday, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Ravilesh Kumar reviewed the technical aspects of the electrified section in which EHT crossing, Level Crossing Gate, Bridge, switching station, curve, Railway Station etc. related to electrical, S&T and engineering in detail were done. He inspected and advised to improve the reliability and safety of OHE system.

The Principal Chief Electrical Engineer explained and advised the sectional and station staff concerned to take various safety measures while working on 25 KV Electric Traction. Headquarter, Divisional and Electrification officers were present during the inspection. After this commissioning, electric locomotive trains will now be able to operate directly from Guwahati to Mendipathar (Meghalaya) section, which will increase the average speed. It will also give a boost to the latest ambitious mission on Indian Railways and will help India reduce dependence on diesel engines and reduce the financial burden due to fuel imports, stated a press release.
