HAFLONG: The Indigenous People’s Forum (IPF) has decided to call off the suspended proposed indefinite Dima Hasao bandh. The press release signed by the president, working president and general secretary stated that the proposed indefinite Dima Hasao bandh call has been temporarily suspended on receipt of a call from the Government of Assam for talks which was scheduled on May 9.
It was suspended till the date of talks with the condition that the outcome of the talks would determine whether to call off the suspended proposed bandh or not. They have found that the talks with the Government of Assam this time was a smooth one yielding a satisfactory outcome.
Hence, they, in the extended committee meeting of the IPF held on Friday, they have decided to call off the Dima Hasao bandh that was supposed to come into affect from April 26. They extended their sincere thanks to the group of ministers who, on behalf of Government of Assam conducted a discussion with the IPF. “It is our sincere expectation that the group of ministers will not disappoint IPF,” the release added.
