DIBRUGARH: The New Delhi-Dibrugarh IndiGo flight 6E 2031 was diverted to Agartala due to poor visibility at Mohanbari airport, Dibrugarh on Thursday.

According to sources, the Guwahati-Dibrugarh IndiGo flight 6E 2652 was also unable to land at Dibrugarh due poor visibility at the airport. “Both the IndiGo flights, New Delhi- Dibrugarh flight no. 6E 2031 and Guwahati - Dibrugarh flight no. 6E 2652 have been diverted to Agartala,” said a source.

This was not the first time that such incidents happened. Earlier, similar incidents happened and flights were diverted to other airports. The flights could not be landed because of the poor visibility.

“Now it has become a regular phenomenon in Dibrugarh airport. The passengers have to face the problem due to poor visibility. Earlier, many such incident occurred where flights were diverted to other airports. Today again such incidents happened,” said a regular passenger.

The flight landing at the airport has been affected for the last few months due to unavailability of the Instrument Landing System because of the ongoing runway extension work. “Presently, there is no Instrument Landing System (ILS) in Mohanbari airport because of the ongoing runway merging work. We are not compromising with the passengers’ safety,” said an IndiGo official.

Earlier when such incidents happened, flights were diverted to Guwahati before landing at Mohanbari Airport in Dibrugarh. NOTAM should have been completed on June 3 but it was not completed due to bad weather. ILP is a system which provides navigation for aircraft at a time of landing.
