BAKSA: Kumarikata Police personnel in Bodoland Territorial Region recovered a 9 mm pistol along with 11 live ammunitions near the Indo-Bhutan Border along the bank of the River Matanga on Monday night. It is suspected that the pistol was used in open firing at the house of Krishna Das, a farmer from Mechguri Pukhuripar village in Baksa district.

"The weapon was found buried along the bank of the River Matanga near Mechguri under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa district. Eleven rounds of live ammunition were also recovered," Nilavjyoti Nath, in-charge of Kumarikata Police Outpost, told The Sentinel.

According to reports, the pistol was found by the Kumarikata Police after they conducted a search operation beside the river based on secret intelligence. Officials have informed that investigations are still underway.

According to Krishna Das, a farmer of Mechguri village , three masked youths came to his house and knocked at the door on the night of December 21. "We were sleeping when they knocked at the door. I opened the door and saw three persons with arms and they entered my house. They searched the rooms of my house. One of my sons managed to escape through a window and began shouting for help," Das stated. "Hearing the commotion, the miscreants opened fire with a pistol and fled away from my house," Krishna Das added.

Later, police found an empty cartridge of a 9 mm pistol from the house of Krishna Das. Three persons had been arrested few days back and one 7.65 pistol has been recovered so far in relation to the firing incident.
