GUWAHATI: The secretary of Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Assam, Arundhati Chakrabarty visited the Assam Information Centre in New Delhi on Friday. In course of her visit, secretary Chakrabarty took stock of the problems faced by the AIC office. Deputy Director, Sabir Nishat apprised the secretary during her maiden visit about the problems confronting the establishment, including the need for renovation, filling up of vacant posts and placing of a vehicle for its smooth running. The secretary assured that she would look into the problems and initiate steps to revamp the establishment. Office bearers from the North East Media Forum also apprised the secretary about the problems faced by them and sought her intervention in resolving them for smooth dissemination of news. The AIC office also houses the press lounge. The secretary also went round the establishment and interacted with the employees of the establishment, stated a press release.
