DHUBRI: The commissioning process of EVMs and VVPAT machines for the ensuing parliamentary polls on April 23 for the Dhubri election district began on Wednesday at Dhubri District Library amidst tight security and in the presence of representatives of various political parties and agents of contesting candidates.

A team of officials, led by Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani, has been engaged in the commissioning process which is being done constituency-wise, in the presence of the constituency AROs. General Observer for Dhubri, Pandhari Yadav also inspected the commissioning process.

With the aim to conduct a free and fair poll process, the EVMs and VVPATs were brought out of the strong rooms and were checked thoroughly for linking of control unit, ballot unit, and VVPATs to ensure error-free election. After the process, the machines will again be stored under tight security. The entire process is expected to be completed in three days.

The process is a part of the Election Commission of India’s elaborate framework of transparent administration system, procedural checks and balances and security protocols that have been put in place to bar any possible misuse or procedural lapses in use of EVM and VVPATs during the ensuing polls.
