International academic counselor Dr. Achintya Bezbaruah guides DHSK College students

DIBRUGARH: For the first time, the students of DHSK College were given counseling on research, academic projects and subject of study by Dr. Achintya Bezbaruah, Professor, North Dakota University, USA.

In an interactive session with the students, Dr. Bezbaruah said that the students must develop the passion for research and project work since their college days which would help them to develop the environment of in-depth study and research in future. The planning for the future areas of study, project work and research must be done in the college stage itself. Only score-based system is not enough for the intellectual growth of the student. He also said that the students must note down their 'works to be done' in a diary. If the nature of research and the depth of subject matter are fixed earlier, it becomes easy to proceed in that area further.

In this regard, the teachers must provide sincere suggestions and guidance to the students. The goals and the target population must the determined at an earlier stage of research and study to know the people who will be benefitted from the research and also to know whether the target population will be benefitted scientifically, socio-economically or it will benefit the people in common. While studying a particular topic if one is confused then it is good, as confusion leads to proper solution at proper time, he said.

In this online counseling programme, Professor Dr. Jogen Ch. Kalita from Gauhati University thanked the Principal of the college for creating such an environment for the students of the college. He said that majority of college students from Assam were not willing to or were not aware of research activities and Kanoi College was offering them the opportunity to develop their knowledge on research and project works and they should take full benefit of it.

The Principal of the college, Dr. SashiKantaSaikia thanked Dr. Bezbaruah and Dr. Kalita for taking time out of their busy schedule to be with the students and proving them proper guidance.

To create a high-level academic environment and to keep pace with the latest trend of education in the global level, Kanoi College has appointed five international academic counselors and as a part of this, DrBezbaruah interacted with the students on issues of study and research.
