International Adoption Month observed in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: A programme to mark the inauguration of the International Adoption Month, 2022 was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Wednesday. The theme for this year for International Adoption Month is 'Promotion of legal adoption'.

The programme was inaugurated by Kabita Phangcho, Assistant Commissioner-cum-DSWO in the presence of J Ahmed, Joint Director of Health Services, Abha Borah, chairperson, CWC, Sonitpur and Neena Baruah, DIPRO, Sonitpur.

Health department officials, adoptive parents, prospective adoptive parents and NGOs were invited to be part of the program. The event was organized by the District Child Protection Unit, in collaboration with the Specialized Adoption Agency of Sonitpur district and supported by the State Adoption Resource Agency.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson, CWC, spoke on a wide range of topics covering the legal adoption procedure involving Central Adoption Resource Agency, about informal and illegal adoption procedure, House Survey Reports, inter-country adoption through Authorised Foreign Adoption Agency, etc.
