BISWANATH CHARIALI: On the occasion of International Day Against Drugs, a drive to burn banned drugs was carried out at Biswanath Chariali on Monday following the orders of Chief Minister. A large quantity of narcotics seized this year was burnt under the initiative of Biswanath Police in the Police Reserve ground at Panibharal.

The programme to burn the intoxicants which had a market price of around Rs. 1 crore, 56 lakh, 52 thousand included ganja, cough syrup, heroin etc. Superintendent of Police, Biswanath, Subhasish Baruah, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jai Shivani, Additional Superintendent of Police Kulendra Nath Deka, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayanta Barua, Municipal Officer Debashish Goswami and others were present at the event.
