International Tai Cultural Festival to be held in Kakapather

In view of around 220 different languages belonging to three linguistic groups namely, Indo-Aryan, Sino-Tibetan and Austric, the International Tai Cultural Festival will be held at Maithong, Kakapather from January 18 to January 22 to promote the preservation of these three categories of spoken languages and to discuss their socio-economic and cultural aspects and showcase their culture.

DOOMDOOMA: In view of around 220 different languages belonging to three linguistic groups namely, Indo-Aryan, Sino-Tibetan and Austric, the International Tai Cultural Festival will be held at Maithong, Kakapather from January 18 to January 22 to promote the preservation of these three categories of spoken languages and to discuss their socio-economic and cultural aspects and showcase their culture.

On January 19, the festival will be held under joint initiative of Doomdooma College and United Tai Ethnic Socio-Cultural Organization (UTESCO) at the conference hall of the college. The seminar entitled “Connecting North -East India with South East Asia” (CNEISEA) will be attended by several international academics and discussants. Many researchers will have the opportunity to read their papers at this one-day seminar. The seminar will be attended by Dr. Chirapat Prapanvidya, Padma Shri Awardee of Silpakorn University Bangkok, Carin Fisher, USA, eight scholars and prominent educators from different parts of the world including Delhi, Majuli, Nepal, Goa and Imphal.
