GOLAGHAT: An international webinar on 'IPR and Entrepreneurial Innovation' was held on July 13 and July 14 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat. The resource persons were Dr. Chimun Kr. Nath, Head of the Department of Commerce, Dr Avishek Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, CHRIST (Deemed to be University, Bengaluru), noted entrepreneurs Hironmoy Gogoi from Sivasagar, Neichute Doulo from Nagaland, Dr Karthigai Prakasham, Associate Professor, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and Gopen Moses from Imphal, Manipur. The webinar was organized by the Department of Commerce, Don Bosco College, Golaghat in association with Department of Commerce, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru.
Dr Chimun and Dr Avishek spoke on intellectual property and how it was the need of the hour for entrepreneurs to protect their ideas. They further spoke on copyrights and laws related to patent protection and trademarks. They further emphasized the value a patent could create for an entrepreneur that would lead to a creation of a unique identity.
Hironmoy Gogoi, a young and prominent entrepreneur, shared his experience on moving towards entrepreneurship and motivated the participants to overcome challenges for doing something big. He further stated that thinking of answering the problems of society would lead to generation of entrepreneurs.
Neichute Doulo, a well-known entrepreneur of Nagaland, shared his experiences on how entrepreneurship was still not the first preference as a career in the Northeast. He further spoke about how entrepreneurship was all about taking an initiative and how he started from scratch doing one start-up after another.
Dr. Karthigai shared his presentation and spoke about how the lockdown throughout the country had affected the economy. Gopen is an established entrepreneur of Manipur. He urged people to be positive during the time of this pandemic. He also said that risk had to be taken entrepreneurs and without it life would be dull.
