KOKRAJHAR: On the occasion of International Women's Day (IWD), Chirang district administration in collaboration with district sericulture department on Tuesday organized a training programme on yarn cutting techniques, machine operation and female empowerment and distributed spinning machines among the women Self Help Groups (SHG) in the auditorium of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (R-SETI) at Kajalgaon. The meeting was presided over by Chirang Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah.
In his speech, he said that district administration had taken this initiative to empower the women folks of the district through sericulture activities. He also said, "Chirang district is known for producing yarn in the state. These machines are provided to women SHGs engaged in handloom and handicrafts so that they can increase their production level and get benifitted financially than before. During the programme, six women SHGs were distributed a total of 30 spinning machines.
