Guwahati: The investigation into the question paper leak of the written examination for the post of sub-inspector in the Assam police ascertained that the question paper went viral on social media only after the conclusion of the examination.

A lot of people were baffled as to how the digital images of the question paper surfaced on social media on April 24 and one could sense a feeling of bewilderment. This sense of uncertainty had also led to many raising questions about the validity and credibility of the selection process.

The investigation revealed that the leak took place as a result of a mistake by an invigilator of an exam centre which is located at a college in the city.

Leena Doley, superintendent of police of Nagaon, said that the police have interrogated three candidates who had circulated the images of the question booklet.

The candidates responded to the questions by claiming that the invigilator of the exam centre did not collect the question booklet from them after the examination as per norms.

The Nagaon SP asserted that the images of the question booklet were shared only after the conclusion of the examination as a result of which there was no question paper leak.

The police had questioned three candidates with regard to this case. The SP informed that they did not find any criminal intention by the candidates who shared the images amongst themselves on social media.
