Jamuguri Bohagi Mela held at Bapuji Bhawan

JAMUGURIHAT: A public meeting convened by the Jamuguri Bohagi Mela was held at the auditorium of Bapuji Bhawan here on Saturday with Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika in the chair to discuss about the silver jubilee celebration of the Bihu committee. After a detailed discussion, the public meeting unanimously decided to observe the silver jubilee programme of the Bihu committee with a year-long activities. In this connection, a hundred-member committee was constituted with MLA Padma Hazarika as president, Jayanta Das as chief secretary along with various sub-committees. Addressing the public gathering, Hazarika traced the glorious history of Jamugurihat in the field of art, culture, literature and bhaona tradition as well. He also added that people from the mouzas of Jamugurihat have been involved in the Jamuguri Bohagi Mela and the silver jubilee celebration will be a successful one with the support from the general public. The public meeting was addressed by retired principal Janardan Bhuyan, Nitumani Bora, Pradumnna Hazarika, Khira Saikia among others. All the proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Jayanta Das.
