Dibrugarh: The ninth death anniversary of journalist Nilim Chowdhury was observed in Dibrugarh on Tuesday under the aegis of Dibrugarh Press Club (DPC).

The memorial lecture was limited to a meeting with minimal gathering keeping in mind the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting, chaired by president of Dibrugarh Press Club, Prabir Chakraborty, was attended by DPC secretary Anil Poddar, other members of the DPC and family members of Chowdhury. The members of DPC and other guests paid rich tribute to Nilim Chowdhury and in their address recalled Chowdhury's warm association with them and his sincere contribution towards journalism.

Senior photo journalist and actor Hari Binod Verma was conferred the Nilim Chowdhury Memorial Award for his rich contribution to photo journalism and the Assamese cine industry as an actor. The award comprises a citation, Rs 20,000, xarai, cheleng chadar and Assamese traditional gamosa. The president and other members of the DPC, after the meeting, visited ailing Hari Binod Verma's residence at Santipara and conferred him the award.
