Kabi Sanmilan session organized in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The first biennial session of the North Lakhimpur unit Kabi Sanmilan was held at the auditorium of the Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha Bhawan on Saturday. The agenda of the programme kick-started with the unfurling of the organizational flag by president Dr. Jagadish Goswami. The Smriti tarpan event was conducted by organizing committee president Chandra Kanta Borah. In connection with the event, a get together of the poets was organized. It was inaugurated by poet, social activist Uday Sankar Hazarika.

It was followed by the open session and the Kabi Mel events. The open session was chaired by president Dr Jagadish Goswami while Kabi Mel was chaired by poet Dilip Kumar Gogoi. Almost 80 invited poets recited self-composed poems in the Kabi Mel. Samadrita Sarmah, Bhaswati Borah, Bijoya Gogoi presented songs in the programme. In the same programme, poet-cum-critic Dr. Atul Khaond released Kavyangan, the annual publication of the North Lakhimpur unit Kabi Sanmilan. Writer Bharat Rajkhowa released Bhinnarupar Bhaoria, the anthology of short stories written by Parama Kanta Das.

In the general assembly session of the organization, the new executive body was formed with Dr. Ramesh Kumar Kakati as president, Dilip Gogoi and Tirtha Das as vice-presidents and Pankaj Sabhapandit as secretary.
