TEZPUR: On the occasion of the 54th death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Bishnu Rabha Divas was observed on Monday across Sonitpur district by various organizations schools and colleges along with the rest of the State, who contributed immensely to the literary, cultural and political landscape of Assam.
The Tezpur chapter of apex literary body Axam Xahitya Xabha organized a tribute programme as part of the Rabha Divas at the Tezpur Xahitya Xabha Bhawan.
The programme started with the lighting of the earthen lamp by Dr Bhupen Saikia, president, Tezpur Xahitya Xabha and it was followed by floral tributes to the Kalaguru by International Photographer and Bishnu Rabha award winner, Nalini Barua, Bankim Sarma, President of Historic Ban Theater, Secretary of TXX, Debabrata Sarma among others.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhupen Saikia said that Bishnu Prasad Rabha was actively involved in many activities in Assam, which includes promoting the culture of the State. He was the perfect symbol of networking among people from different parts of the State. His contribution in political and cultural fields would be always important for generations to come, Saikia added.
