TANGLA, KALAIGAON: Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, Dilip Kumar Das has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of Pulakesh Sahariah who succumbed to injuries after police shot him during the performance of unusual puja rituals at Ganakpara village near Kalaigaon in Udalguri district on Saturday. The inquiry will be conducted by Additional District Magistrate- cum-in-charge of Bhergaon subdivision, Gakul Chandra Brahma while the latter has issued a press communiqué exhorting eye-witnesses and people to place evidence and to record their statements at his office from July 10 to July 12.
Talking to The Sentinel, DC Das confirmed that the inquiry would be conducted by Additional District Magistrate Brahma and said that if anyone wished to place any evidence or record their statement in this regard, they could approach the office. “I have called for police report and only then I can proceed to further conduct inquiry and I seek the co-operation of the people present in the place of occurrence for helping me in the inquiry,” said ADM Brahma.
In a new twist in the case, the mother of Pulakesh, Purna Kanti Sahariah (50) revealed the harrowing secrets and alleged that their slain son was the mastermind of the entire incident. “Our son offered us a special herbal tea and after consuming it we started obeying his orders,” said Purna. She further added that her son went on a rampage. Narrating the ordeal of the family, she said that their son also coercively disrobed the clothes of the family members and set them ablaze and held a bone kind of material and kept chanting a series of mantras in praise of Goddess Kali.
