DHUBRI: Kalpataru, a nature and socio-welfare organization, observed the week-long Van Mahotsav by planting seedlings of various trees from July 1 to July 7.
Every day, the activists of Kalpataru planted 100 to 150 seedlings in Dhubri town and its outskirts with cattle fencing. Director of the organization, Suchibrata Singha Choudhury informed that during this Van Mahotsav, they planted more than 1,000 seedlings of various species of trees.
"Since there is strict prohibition on gathering and assembly of people these days, activists of our organization went out every day to such places where there were no trees around. They also fenced the seedlings and created awareness among the people in each area about global warming and climate change and also appealed to them to protect the seedlings," Choudhury said.
