GUWAHATI: On Saturday that the DC of Kamrup Metro had issued an order and revised the timing of lessons for all educational institutions starting at 7.30 am with immediate effect in response to the rising temperatures.

According to the notification, the timings have changed for the benefit of the general public's health due to the ongoing rise in mercury levels and the intense heat that is now in effect.

According to official notification, “As per the instruction received from the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup metro district in the interest of public wellbeing the normal school timing is hereby rescheduled due to continuous rise of Mercury level and prevailing scorching heat for both Govt Provincialised and private schools under Kamrup Metro district w.e.f Monday 5" Jun'2023.”

The new timings of the schools will be as follows:

L.P Schools – 7.30 am to 12 noon

M.E Schools- 7.30 am to 12.30 pm

HS/HS Schools- 7.30 am to 1 pm

On the other hand on Saturday, The Nagaon district administration made the decision to alter the start and end times for the district's schools in light of this circumstance. According to the district administration's announcement, both public and private educational institutions would experience this adjustment.

The order is effective immediately and will remain in effect until another notice is issued regarding it. According to the official notification ,” “In the interest of the public, the timing of the following categories of Educational Institutions (Government and private) under Nagaon District is hereby rescheduled. The timings of Lower Primary (LP) schools will start from 7:30 am to 12:15 pm, Middle English (ME) school timings are 7:30 to 12:45 pm and higher secondary schools start from 7:30 am to 1:15 pm.”

On the other hand, as per sources, at least 11 kids from Sonitpur Jatiya Vidyalaya in Tezpur fainted in class on Friday due to the oppressive heat and daytime temperatures that were still above usual in the state.

According to reports, the situation became chaotic when pupils in classes VII and VIII complained of being uncomfortable and fainted during a lesson in the afternoon.

First aid was administered to each and every student who collapsed and was taken to the Gate Hospital in Tezpur.
