Guwahati: The Kamrup (Metro) District Magistrate has ordered a probe into the encounter of Biki Ali, who was the main accused in the Garigaon gang rape case.

In this regard, the office of the District Magistrate issued a notification, wherein, it asked Bipul Kumar Das, an additional district magistrate to submit the report within 15 days.

''Accordingly, Bipul Kumar Das, ACS, Additional District Magistrate, Kamrup Metropolitan District, Guwahati is hereby entrusted to cause an inquiry into the matter and to submit his findings within 15 days on receipt of this order forward submission to the AHRC/NHRC,'' the order read.

As per the order, Das will be assisted by Rimhjim Konwar, ACS, Assistant Commissioner, and Executive Magistrate Kamrup Metropolitan District, Guwahati.

Biki Ali, son of Rajeshul Hoque was a resident of Garigaon under the Kjalukbari police station was killed in a police encounter at Garbhanga Hill area under Gorchuk Police Station on March 15, 2022.

Ali along with four others had assaulted the minor and also filmed her by making videos of the entire incident. Later, he was arrested in Dimapur hills of Kamrup district when he was escaping from the police.
