Guwahati: Amid rising coronavirus cases in Assam, the district administration of the Kamrup (Metro) district in Assam on Thursday took several key decisions in regards to the home isolation of COVID-19 positive patients.
In the meeting presided by Munindra Bordoloi, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum home isolation monitoring in-charge, the main challenges faced by the district administration and the National Health Mission (NHM) with respect to home isolation were discussed.
It was concluded that many home isolation cases in Kamrup (Metro) district go unreported as there is a purported non-availability of antigen and RT-PCR data from all the private laboratories and hospitals in Guwahati.
"Further, challenge remains in ensuring that proper verification is made while providing home isolation to positive patients by Covid Counselling Centres, Covid Care Centres, hospitals and nursing homes, etc, as per SOP," stated Munin Bodoloi in a release.
Several key decisions were taken in the meeting. These are as follows:
While providing home isolation by Covid Counselling Centres, the in-charges shall ensure that the staffs/manpower of that CC pays a visit to the address of the positive patient to check if the home isolation criteria are met.
The private labs and nursing homes shall relay the information with regards to a positive tested person opting for home isolation to the district administration immediately for approval.
The private labs and nursing homes/hospitals shall ensure that registers are maintained for positive cases as well as home isolation. Proper maintenance of their full and correct addresses, contact numbers, is also mandatorily required.
As there is a lacuna in data collation from various sources/hospitals/CCCs, so after discussion, a consensus was achieved to share the test data in an online portal as well apart from providing their date through email to the NHM/district administration.
A common WhatsApp platform is to be created for better co-ordination with the Centres/institutes.
The CCCs/hospitals/labs shall ensure their final data latest by 6 pm with the district administration on a daily basis.
The district administration will monitor the home isolation provided by various centres/hospitals on a regular basis.
A separate ambulance has to be earmarked by the private hospitals for sending positive patients to their nearest Covid Counselling Centres. They will also make arrangements for a waiting area/room in their own premises for those who tested positive.
Finally, it was decided that the affixing of home isolation stickers at the home address of the positive patient who opted for home isolation is sone on the same day the patient tested antigen-positive and on the day of shifting of the RT-PCR positive patient.
