The Kamrup District Administration and Social Welfare Department launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ campaign on the occasion of 25th National Youth Day.

Guwahati: The district administration of Kamrup metro along with the Social Welfare Department on Wednesday launched a campaign named 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' which means drugs-free India.

The Kamrup Metropolitan district administration took the major initiative during the occasion of 25th National Youth Day which marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration confirmed the same and said, '' On the occasion of National Youth Day, District Administration Kamrup (M) & Social Welfare Dept. launched Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in presence of ADC Smt S Kakoty & other officials.''

The district administration also informed that a theme song for the campaign was also launched during the event.

Swami Vivekananda had a great influence on Indian youth in building a well-developed nation and is still remembered as an inspiration by lakhs of Indian youth

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) or Drug-free India is a campaign that is meant to remove the threat associated with drugs addiction in Indian society. The main objective of the campaign is to promote knowledge regarding drugs abuse among the masses.

Since, its launch on 15 August 2020 by India's Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the campaign has been launched in various states in India. The Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry is the Nodal Ministry for Drug Demand Reduction that functions in preventing the use of harmful drugs.

The District Administration and District Social Welfare office of East Khasi Hills launched the Abhiyan in the month of October 2020 to curb the drug-related issues that harm society.
