BOKAJAN: In its continued effort to check the trafficking of narcotics and smuggled goods, Karbi Anglong police seized 4 kg of morphine worth Rs 15 crore at Dillai bordering Nagaland on Saturday. Based on secret information, police set up a Naka at Dillai Tiniali and at about 11.30 am a vehicle bearing registration no UP14BV4234 was intercepted which was coming from Manipur. On searching the vehicle, 4 kg Morphine was recovered which was hidden in the boot of the vehicle," said John Das, SDPO, Bokajan.
Two persons have been arrested in this connection. They have been identified as Hemkholal Lunkin (37) son of Paothang Lunkin, a resident of Tollen village in Manipur's Churachandpur district and Jangminlal Haokip (38), son of Mangthang Haokip of Saikul Bazzar under Saikulpolice station in Manipur's Kangpokpi district. Despite crackdowns by the police and other central agencies, trafficking of narcotics is on the rise through this stretch of the Assam-Nagaland border.
