Diphu: Karbi MIL textbook namely 'Karbi Lammet Amunjin' and 'Lammet Amanim' for class X and XI for the session 2022-23 was released at a function held at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall, Matipung on Tuesday.
The Karbi Lammet Amunjin' has been prepared and approved by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, and published by the Assam Textbook Production and Publication Corporation Limited, Guwahati.
The books have 10 articles in the prose section and 5 poems in the poetry sections contributed by different writers.
The editorial board members include Sing Kro, Mondor Teron, Bikash Teron, Ranjit Hanse, Kiri Ronghang, Meerklar Teronpi, and Hunali Englengpi.
On the other hand, class-XI textbook 'Lammet Amanim' has been prescribed by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and prepared by Karbi Language Development Board and Editorial Board, Higher Secondary Level, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
Chairman of Karbi Language Development Board (KLDB), KAAC, Longsing Teron is the editor and vice president, Karbi Lammet Amei, (KLA) Hukursing Rongpi is the sub-editor of the editorial board.
"Chairman of KLDB, Longsing Teron has taken the initiative and has spent his time and energy in going to SEBA office not once, but several times for preparation of the textbooks. It was due to dedication and sincere effort by him and his team that today we could release the Karbi MIL textbooks," said Tuliram Ronghang, chief executive member (CEM), KAAC while releasing the books.
"I see the people are not enthusiastic about supporting the Karbi Lammet Amei. This programme is related to the development of our mother tongue. It is a big achievement that Karbi language is being recognised as MIL,'' he added.
