SILCHAR: Strictly adhering to COVID protocol, the 7th International Yoga Day was observed under the aegis of Karimganj district administration. Participation of seven organisations added new verve to it. Deputy Commissioner Khageshwar Pegu heralded the programme by lighting the auspicious lamp in presence of SP Mayank Kumar Jha and others. It was an hour-long yoga exercises held in the office premises of the Deputy Commissioner of the border district.
Yoga instructors each from 7 institutions demonstrated before the august participants various yogic exercises, repeated by them in total synchronisation. On Sunday, a two-hour discussion on yoga was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner. Yoga gurus, head of Ayush department and state departmental heads took part in the discussion, outlining various benefits of yoga and the ways to overcome the post COVID crisis.
The organisations which participated in the programme included Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwaria Vishwavidyalay, Pranavananda Yoga Vidyalaya, Yoga Training Centre, Maharshi Yoga Vidyamandir, Karimganj College and Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari. Those who spoke on the different Yogas and their distinct benefits were Biswajit Ghose, Binay Bhattacharjee, Nayan Deb, Sanjib Das, Bapan Deb and Arup Roy.
All of them focussed on the basic and common well known fact that if someone wants to keep himself away from doctors and diseases, yoga is the best panacea. The regular Yoga keeps us not only fit and agile, but also increases our immunity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of 5th International Day message made the most significant observation 'Yoga can begin with zero balance account.' After learning from a Yoga Guru, one can do the yogic exercises regularly. Yoga Guru Ramdev is a living legend before us who continues to inspire and motivate people to take to yoga.
