SILCHAR: Karimganj police recovered a huge quantity of contraband narcotic substances from a vehicle coming from Mizoram. Two people, both residents of Tripura were arrested. On Tuesday late night, Karimganj police led by Additional SP Partha Pratim Das during a routine check-up intercepted a Bolero vehicle at Contactcherra under Bajaricherra PS, bearing registration number AR 01D 5996 and recovered 131 soap cases of heroin weighing 2.114 kg and 50 thousand Yaba tablets. Recovery of narcotic substances from vehicles was a regular incident in Barak Valley which shares inter state border with Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura as well as international border with Bangladesh. But this was the first incident where both heroine and Yaba tablets were confiscated from the same vehicle. Police had arrested two persons Gopendu Das, 22 and Kabir Ahmed, 19. Both of them were residents of Dharmanagar in Tripura.
