Tezpur: Based on an input, Sonitpur Forest officials on Wednesday seized one truck and recovered (Kattha) timbers worth Rs 25 lakhs from Nah Ali in Diputa area under West Sonitpur Forest Reserve area.
It is to be noted that these wood extracts are of the trees name Senegalia Catechu.
During the operation, the forest officials had apprehended two persons from the spot including one driver. The apprehended persons were identified as Guja Ram and Lakhan Ram.
The seized truck bearing registration number RJ 19JE 7606 is under police custody.
It may further be mentioned that Khair or Kattha are basically used in Pan and Pan Masalas for consumption in India and few other South East Asian countries.
