LAKHIMPUR:  Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), NHPC, Gerukamukh celebrated the 3rd anniversary of National Education Policy-2020 in the district level, as part of Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam.

In this connection, the educational institution organized a conference at Dhemaji Press Club with the presence of Principal Manish Tilak, PGT-CS Rupendra Meshram, PGT-English Arik Poddar, JNV Dhemaji Principal Anjana and State Academic Council secretary Khagen Pegu. Addressing the attendees of the conference Principal Manish Tilak said, “NEP-2020 came into vogue for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ to transform India into a vibrant knowledge society through broad-based, flexible, multidisciplinary education suited to 21st-century needs. It is designated to promote critical thinking, focus on learning instead of studying, encouragement to scientific temperament.”

Referring to the present status of his school regarding NEP-2020, the Principal further said, “Kendriya Vidyalaya NHPC Gerukamukh, as part of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, provides uninterrupted education to the wards of transferable Central Government employees, as well as makes quality education affordable, available and accessible to the remotest location of the country.”

“As part of NEP Implementation, KV NHPC Gerukamukh realigned admission stages into a 5+3+3+4 design, and age of admission in Class I, was revised to 6+ years. Under Nipun Bharat (National Initiative for Proficiency in reading with Understanding and Numeracy), KV NHPC Gerukamukh has successfully attained the Lakshyas (Learning outcomes) to fulfil the goal of FLN (Foundation Literacy and Numeracy). The 3 Months Play Based 'School Preparation Module' for Class I named 'Vidya Pravesh' has been introduced and "Balvatika - classes for ages 3+, 4+ & 5+" which has already been implemented in 500 KVs will also be implemented in KV Gerukamukh. KV NHPC Gerukamukh also runs an online repository of knowledge under https:/kvnhpegerukamukhlibrary wordpress.com. As per NEP, Vidyalaya always considers parents as important stakeholder and communicate with them from time to time. KVS trained the teachers through NISHTHA-I, II and III (National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers Holistic Advancement) programme besides short-term workshops and in-service training and simultaneously, the teachers of KV NHPC Gerukamukh has taken various short-term workshops in nearby schools as part of Vidyanjali program. KVS as well as KV NHPC Gerukamukh is dedicated to fulfil the dream of Amrit Kaal,” Principal Manish Tilak added.
