JAGIROAD/MORIGAON: State Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta and State Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika on Friday visited Morigaon Civil Hospital.
The ministers reviewed the progress of work of the COVID-19 unit of the hospital and asked the authority to expedite the work. They also took stock of the condition of the COVID patients in the hospital. Later, the duo attended a meeting in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
In beginning of the review meeting, Deputy Commissioner Seema Rekha Bhuyan highlighted various initiatives taken by the district administration to tackle the COVID-19 situation and the flood situation in the district. State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta instructed the district administration to give importance to admitting COVID-affected people in hospitals instead of home isolation. The minister also ordered the district administration to complete the construction of the 19-bedded ICU unit for COVID patients within June 30.
The minister asked the district administration to focus on complete vaccination for the frontline workers and organizing awareness campaigns in tea garden areas. The minister also discussed about the proposed Morigaon Medical College and tourism in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
State Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika took stock of the flood preparedness and asked the authority concerned to complete the construction of the river dykes immediately. Besides, the minister asked the health, agriculture and supply departments to be prepared in order to tackle the flood situation.
