JAMUGURIHAT: The Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) will introduce a postgraduate course in Nepali language for the first time.
In this connection, Arupjyoti Choudhury, the Registrar of the state open university, has formed an expert committee including Prof. Pranjit Bora, Prasenjit Das, Mrinaljyoti Goswami, Khagen Sarma, Dhakaram Kafle, Indu Prabha Devi, Naba Sapcota and Dibyajyoti Mahanta, for preparation and finalization of curriculum and syllabus and PPR for MA in Nepali programme according to the reference no. KKHSOU/State Govt./49/2011/PT/88.
A team of All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) led by Arjun Chetry, president of the student body, called on the Chief Minister of Assam on Thursday and submitted a memorandum citing various issues and burning problems of the community. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma listened to the issues briefed by Dr. Khagen Sarma, former education secretary of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, and assured help from the government's end. During the discussion, the team briefed about the D-voters' issue, land issues and educational problems. The Chief Minister then ordered KKHSOU to introduce an MA course in the university without any delay.
Arjun Chetry, president of AAGSU, and Dr. Khagen Sarma, former education secretary of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, thanked Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for the quick action on behalf of the community.
