BONGAIGAON: A seven-member committee of Koch Rajbongshi National Forum and Koch- Rajbongshi Sahitya Parishad called on Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro and deputy chief Gobinda Basumatary on Friday regarding various issues related to the community.

Bimal Kumar Barman and Biswajit Ray, president and secretary of Koch Rajbongshi National Forum and Amrit Bhusan Fauzdari, president of Koch- Rajbongshi Sahitya Parishad, said that the meeting was very successful.

"We requested them to create pressure on the Central and State governments for ST categorization of the Koch- Rajbongshi community. Along with that, we requested them to ensure land rights of the Koch- Rajbongshi community in the BTAD area. We also demanded construction of a Cultural Development and Research Centre at Bijni town in the memory of Koch King Bijit Narayan and a cultural centre at Balagaon in memory of Queen Manjula, last Queen of Sidli state. Both the BTC chief and deputy chief assured to take necessary steps in this regard," they said.
