Kokrajhar delegation seeks separate column for Bathouism in next census

Kokrajhar: A delegation of Bathou Traditional and Cultural Centre of Baganshali, Kokrajhar, led by BTC Executive Member Lwmsrao Daimary called on WPT and BC Minister Chandan Brahma at his office chamber in Guwahati recently and apprised him for taking necessary steps to create a separate official column for Bathouism in the next census to be held on 2021.

The Bathou delegation was also accompanied by Mohim Chandra Basumatary, convener of Bathou Traditional Cultural Centre, Baganshali, Kokrajhar, Public Relations Officer of BTC, Sameswar Basumatary and others. They discussed on Bathouism and submitted memorandum to minister Brahma, urging him to include Bathouism as separate official column in next 2021 census. They also urged him to forward and press the RGI, Government India for inclusion of Bathou in official column.

The brief meeting was also taken part by the Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Assam, M Angamuthu and Director of WPT& BC, Government of Assam, and Director of TRI, Udayan Hazarika.

Recently, a delegation of Bathou from Kokrajhar visited some religious shrines in different States, including Golden Temple of Punjab and Akshardham Temple in New Delhi to study the preservation and management of temples.

Meanwhile, contractions of great Bathou Thanshali with special attractions are going on at Kokrajhar town where the philosophy of Bathouism and its art, culture and traditions will be preserved.
