KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar district administration on Tuesday organized community lighting of lamps at Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School playground, Kokrajhar in connection with the celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan.
Members of the community along with students participated and lit many lamps and formed human chain. Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka also participated in the event and later addressed the media on the celebration of Lachit Divas in the district which is going on in full swing with various programmes.
On Tuesday, indigenous games were also organised at Khagrabari village playground. A total of six indigenous games of the Bodo community like Durung Bwnai, Daobo Aithing Thabainai, Khwi Gelenai, Dw Bukrubnai, Fifang Gakhwnai and Bwlw Sunainai were played by the students participating from various schools of the area. Apurna Narzary, a budding player of the Indian women' football team, along with three sports pensioners from the area, were felicitated during the programme.
