Kokrajhar district gears up for mega COVID-19 vaccination drive

KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar district has completed its preparation for the mega vaccination drive to be held state-wide on September 17 to further intensify the vaccination for COVID -19 in Assam.

Immunization centres have already been set up for the drive by the District Health Department in coordination with district administration. A total of 8 lakh vaccines have been targeted across the State on that day. To achieve this goal, a target of 16,000 vaccines has been set for Kokrajhar district and to achieve this target, more than 175 vaccination centres have already been set in the district. The colleges, schools, community halls area under the district will be utilized for vaccination centres. Sources said that special emphasis for vaccination will be given in forest areas under the district. The second dose of Covaxin and both doses of Covishield will be available for the eligible persons on that day.

Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, has urged all to work diligently in coordination with all officials concerned to carry out this mission of mega COVID-19 vaccination drive smoothly and successfully. A total of 5,06,454 vaccines have been given till date in Kokrajhar district. Out of these, 4,32,231 are of the first dose and 74,223 are of the second dose.
