GUWAHATI: Krishi-O-Samaj Bikash Samiti (KOSBS), Kabuganj located on the outskirts of Silchar town in South Assam remembered Indologist Dr. Kali Prasad Sinha on his 83rth birth anniversary at Sri Jadunandan Ashram at Bhatirgram near Kabuganj recently with a day-long function.

Dr. Kali Prasad Sinha was an Indologist who had a teaching career in Gauhati University, Tripura University and Assam University. He left behind over 40 books, mainly of Indian Philosophy, Linguistics and literary works.

The function was presided over by Dr. Dhriti Rajkumar. After the welcome address and spelling out the purpose of the function by dramatist and short story writer Indrakumar Sinha, speakers like Prof. Barindra Kumar Sinha, Prof. (Dr.) Smiriti Kumar Sinha, Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha (BMSS) general secretary Manikanta Sinha, journalist Anita Sinha (Editor of Kakei, a Bishnupriya Manipuri daily being published from Tripura), Krishnamoni Sinha, Shishir Sinha, advocate Mahendra Sinha, Bidhan Sinha, Pundit Kartik Sandilya and others spoke on the multi-faceted talent and contribution of the Indologist. KOSBS general secretary Rajbehari Sinha said that their organization has been laying stress on the development of agriculture, education, sports, village industries etc in sync with the Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha. Journalist Anita Sinha was honoured with a citation, besides cash. Eight meritorious students, three sportsmen and a person each from handloom, dance, song and social work were also felicitated at the function.
