MANGALDAI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Darrang had organized a three-day Capacity Building Programme for two Farmer Producer companies of the Darrang district under the Assam Agricultural University. The programme was organized at KVK, Darrang Gelaidingi campus from August 5 to August 7.

In the inaugural session held on the occasion, Dr PC Deka, Principal CEO, Cluster Based Business Organization of Assam Agricultural University stationed at Horticultural Research Station, Kahikuchi, Guwahati, elaborated the aim and objective of the training programme sponsored by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Agency (APEDA).

Dr Archana Nath, Business Development Manager, APEDA Regional Office, Guwahati, while attending the session as guest of honour, asked the Farmer Producer Company to avail the benefit of different APEDA schemes that they are implementing for the farming community. Dr Nath also elaborately discussed the agricultural commodity which APEDA is exporting to different countries across the globe. Jyotish Nath, District Agriculture Officer, Darrang, Abhishek Barua, DDM, NABARD and Jiten Saharia, SDAO, Agriculture Department, Darrang also addressed the function.

During the programme period, different resource persons from Project Implementation Unit of AAU-CBBO, department of Agriculture, NABARD, APEDA, APART staff, KVK scientists spoke on different aspects of capacity building which are essential for the growth, development and sustainability of a Farmer Producer Company in the long run. The programme came to an end with a valedictory session where certificates were distributed among the participants.
