DIBRUGARH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh in collaboration with Asom Rajyik Krikhok Samannay Samity conducted a two-day training on scientific mushroom cultivation successfully at its premises of Kordoibam of Lahoal development block. The programme was directed by Dr.Diganta Sharmah, senior scientist and head of KVK Dibrugarh and other course coordinators were Dr. Hemchandra Saikia and Dr. Sangita Bora Saikia.

In the inaugural session, Dr. Hemchandra Saikia and Dr.Sangita Bora highlighted the menace of child marriage in our society and urged all the participants to act promptly on a continuous basis to lead a peace and developed society. Dr. Diganta Sharmah is also an expert in entomology.

Hands-on training were imparted on scientific mushroom cultivation and its nutritional importance besides tips to identify poisonous wild mushroom for the greater interest of saving innocent life in our society particularly in rural areas were given.. Dr. Saikia who is specialist in Agricultural Economics delivered a lecture on how to become a successful entrepreneur in the agricultural and allied field and also gave some fruitful tips of successful market linkage in running a commercial mushroom unit. Specialist in community science Dr Sangita Bora Saikia imparted very fruitful hands-on training on various aspects of value addition of mushroom produce to harness a very remunerative dividend from mushroom cultivation.

The programme covered a host of important subjects of scientific mushroom cultivation for the greater interest of developing entrepreneurship among rural masses.

Certificates were distributed among all the participants for the successful completion of the programme. High quality maize seeds were also distributed among all participants from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh. The President of the Asom Rajyik Krikhok Samannay Samity, Hamenta Kumar Gogoi expressed great satisfaction over the cooperation provided by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh in imparting this valuable skill development programme of Scientific Mushroom Cultivation. All together 26 participants of rural background across the Dibrugarh district successfully completed this training programme.
