Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh conducts online training for farmers

DIBRUGARH: An expert in Agricultural Economic and Farm Management, Hemchandra Saikia, during interaction with The Sentinel, informed that although the COVID-19 pandemic was creating innumerable hurdles, agriculture in Assam must go on in the right direction. Therefore, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh had started a series of online capacity building training programme for the betterment of the farming community of the district under the guidance of Senior Scientist and Head, Dr Diganta Sharmah, who is constantly supported by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and ATARI Guwahati Office.

Till date, Kendra has completed three such online training programmes along with some level of scientist-farmers interactions on some suitable topics Arecanut based multistoried horticultural crop cultivation, scientific rearing of honeybee and realization courses on FPO Formation for orthodox tea planters. Saikia disclosed that online training of KVK Dibrugarh would be a continuous process and would include more need-based suitable topics for our farmers. He informed that the main aim of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh was to provide all possible technical guidance in the form of suitable agro-advisories at the right time and place to enhance the production, productivity and profit of the farming community in the district.

The scientists involved in delivery of online agro-advisory are Dr.Sudeshna Baruah, Sanghamitra Sarmah and Supriya Sonowal, in addition to Dr Diganta Sharmah and Hemchandra Saikia. Moreover, DDM NABARD Dibrugarh, Bhaskar Parakhar delivered several lectures on various important aspect of FPO Formation in addition to his participation as resource person in the online training programme of the Kendra on FPO Realization Courses.
