Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon organizes a field day on millets promotion

NAGAON: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaon organized a field day on millets promoted under millets promotion through R&D activities at Niz Khatowal near Samaguri in the district to showcase the crop and also make farmers aware of millets cultivation on Thursday here.

Dr Niranjan Deka, principal scientist and head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon encouraged the farmers with his valuable information about millets and asked the participants to go for dissemination of seeds to fellow farmers in upcoming season. Dr Deka urged the farmers to cover more crop areas with cultivation of millets varieties. Over 25 farmers of the areas participated in the programme.

Keshab Bora, agriculture inspector, Rupahi ADO circle, Monika Hira, Gram Pradhan of Niz Khatowal and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon attended the programme. The programme under millets promotion is being conducted either by KVK on its own or with other line departments like district agriculture department, NABARD or through mass media so as to make people aware of the tremendous benefits of the millets and its consumption.
