TINSUKIA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tinsukia successfully organized a farmers' fair under the aegis of 'Kisan Bhagedari Prathamikta Hamari' which is part of the nationwide campaign 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. The fair was inaugurated by Minister for Tea Tribes Welfare Department, Labour & Employment, Sanjoy Kisan on Tuesday.

The event was successfully attended by more than 300 farmers from all over the district. To motivate and encourage the farmers, the KVK Tinsukia felicitated 13 progressive farmers and farm women during the event for their significant contribution in agriculture and allied sector. The fair was participated by a range of different government and non-government organizations across the district, including CRS, IFFCO, ASRLM and ATMA. The local farmers were provided a platform to showcase their products.

Later, a highly potent discussion was arranged with a welcome address by Gayatri Deori Bhuyan, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Tinsukia. Rajit Dutta, SDAO, Department of Agriculture, highlighted the key factors of traditional and natural farming and also discussed crops viz oilseed, millets and bio fortified crops.

The programme was attended by Tapan Neog, DAO, Department of Agriculture, Pabitra Kachari, Joint Director (Agriculture), Tinsukia, Samar Biswakarma, and other dignitaries. The event ended with a farmer- scientists' interaction and cultural programme.
