TEZPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur completed the 15-day training programme for agricultural input dealers which was started from December 13. The training was jointly organized by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and District Agriculture Office, Sonitpur. In these 15 days, the dealers were taught about different agricultural aspects like suitable cropping systems for existing agro-ecological situations, Macro and Micro nutrient deficiencies in soil and their symptoms and management approaches, different types of fertilizers and their methods of applications, classifications of pesticides, Integrated Nutrient Management –principles and practices, food adulteration, stress management etc.
Besides, other topics like different types of farm machinery and their component, repair and maintenance of farm implements and machinery, rural credit- micro finance, crop insurance etc were covered. A daylong field visit to Farm Machinery Testing and Training Institute (FMTTI), Biswanath Chariali was organized and practical demonstrations were also conducted. The group also visited NERIWALM where they were given exposure to the soil and water testing laboratories and different activities of the institute.
In the valedictory session, Dr Arifa Momtaz Begum, in charge Head of KVK, Sonitpur congratulated the participants and asked them to share their experiences with the farmers. She thanked the Department of Agriculture, organizers of the training programme, all the resource persons who delivered lectures during the training. Prakash Borah, DAO, Sonitpur congratulated all the participants for the successful completion of the training programme and wished that the knowledge gained by the participants during the training would be helpful for them in near future.
