TINSUKIA: To mark the celebration of India Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Foundation Day on Saturday, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tinsukia organised a farmers' meeting with the successful farmers of Doubling Farmers Income (DFI) village as a part of the nationwide campaign 'Azadika Amrit Mahotsav'.
Gayatri Deori Bhuyan, Senior Scientist & Head KVK, Tinsukia delivered the welcome address. A webcasting programme was also organized on the topic 'Success stories of farmers and thereafter chief guest Nilakhi Saikia, District Nodal Officer Horticulture enlightened the schemes of Agriculture Department in the district for the benefit of farmers. In his address as invited guest Dr Nilim Kalita, Scientist Citrus Research Station, highlighted the importance of agriculture and the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Samar Jyoti Chutia, Fishery Development officer shared the details of the schemes of the Fishery department. A training programme was also organized at the same venue on the Topic 'Fish for health and prosperity' where Montu Konwar Fishery Development Officer, Tinsukia acted as resource person.
