Kumud Bora of Rangpuria gets 20 years RI for raping minor

The Special Judge (POCSO), Lakhimpur, on Wednesday sentenced Kumud Bora of Rangpuria to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

 LAKHIMPUR: The Special Judge (POCSO), Lakhimpur, on Wednesday sentenced Kumud Bora of Rangpuria to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

Further, the Special Judge, Rashmita Das, imposed a fine of Rs 5000 and in default he will get another 6 months imprisonment in reference to a case registered against Kumud Bora at North Lakhimpur Police Station, vide No. 1251/21, Special Case No 106/21 for raping a minor girl. Trial of this case had started on September 16, 2022 and was completed on Wednesday. The case was conducted by Madhav Gogoi, a senior lawyer of Lakhimpur, as Special Public Prosecutor for the State.
